Scotmid is delighted to congratulate Stephens the Bakers on winning the Scottish Baker of the Year Award at the Scottish Bakers awards on 18 May 2013.
The family-owned Dunfermline bakery, which is one of Scotmid’s local bakery partners, also scooped the prize for the best morning roll in Scotland.
Stephens the Bakers products, including morning rolls, cakes, savouries and baked goods, are available in 20 Scotmid stores in Fife, West Lothian and West Edinburgh. The partnership is part of Scotmid’s commitment to supporting local suppliers and providing an excellent range of bakery products for customers.
There was further good news at the awards for two more of Scotmid’s local bakery partners. Aulds the Bakers picked up a bronze medal for its morning rolls, while Goodfellow & Steven picked up the award for special buttery (Central Belt and Tayside) and a silver medal for best biscuit.

Now in our 140th year as a family business with 165 staff, 14 shops and 59 franchise stores, we take our business very seriously. We use traditional methods and craftsmen’s skills. The brand, steeped in valuable heritage, is particularly famous for our Steak Bridie, which is now synonymous with Stephens Bakery. But we could not have come this far in the competition without our dedicated and skilled team and without the votes of all of our customers, Thank you.”

Scotmid is working with a number of local bakery partners including Stephens the Bakers, Goodfellow & Steven, The Breadwinner Bakery and Aulds. Selected Scotmid stores have recently been refitted with fresh and hot bakery counters offering cakes, savouries and baked goods, while other stores now stock locally-made speciality breads.
