Get Involved – Join a Scotmid Regional Committee
Every year, Scotmid members have the chance to stand for election to one of our Regional Committees. We have three committees representing the East, West, and North regions. Members in the Lakes & Dales area are assigned to either the East or West region. Each committee is made up of 12–14 elected members from a variety of backgrounds, bringing different skills and experiences. Some have been involved with Scotmid and the co-operative movement for many years, while others are taking their first steps into both.
Committees meet in person six times a year, with meetings held in the evenings. Their responsibilities include:
- Representing the views of members
- Promoting membership of the Society
- Reviewing reports from the Board and senior management team
- Managing the community budget for their region
- Nominating members to serve on the Board of Directors
Nominations for 2026 are now open
- East Region: 4 members to serve 3-year terms
- East Region (Seaton Delaval area): 1 member to serve a 3-year term
- West Region: 3 members to serve 3-year terms
- North Region: 5 members to serve 3-year terms
As a Scotmid member, you’re already a co-owner of Scotland’s largest independent retail co-operative.
You have a voice in how we operate and how we support local communities.
If you’d like to take your membership further by joining a Regional Committee—and you meet the eligibility criteria below—please complete this form. Nominations close on Wednesday 18 February 2026.
Elections will be held during the Annual General Meetings: on 27 April 2026 for the East Region, and on 28 April 2026 for the West and North Regions. All voting will occur in person on the night of each meeting, with only attending members eligible to vote.
