Calum’s Cabin
Support families facing the toughest challenge, a childhood cancer diagnosis. They provide holiday accommodation to allow families to spend quality time making precious memories. Cancer treatment is exhausting and often happens for months at a time, at treatment centres miles from home. Calum’s Cabin also provides near hospital accommodation, enabling families to stay together during their child’s cancer treatment. Funding from Scotmid would be used to refurbish our near hospital flats, providing a refreshed home-from-home for the families they support.
Paul’s Parcels
Are a small charity, based in the town of Shotts. They also service the villages of Harthill, Salsburgh and Allanton on a weekly basis. They do not limit how many times a family can seek assistance and have a strong ethos that everyone deserves access to healthy, nutritious meals. They provide families with dairy, protein, fruit and veg, as well as ambient produce and toiletries. They support families, until they no longer need help and currently assist over 200 families each week. They believe everyone should have access to food on a regular basis and strive to help them with the dignity and respect, they deserve.
UTHEO
Is a community based charity providing services for people living in Orbiston and Bellshill. Based in The Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre they provide a community café, food coop, volunteering & befriending opportunities, employability program, older person’s services and as well as a weekly timetable of various activities and support groups. Funding will be used to upgrade equipment in the cafe kitchen.
