Our Membership and Community Officer Kirsty Connell popped across to Gorgie City Farm to celebrate the fact the charity had been awarded a Community Grant, which was spent on providing new uniforms for volunteers. Gorgie City Farm has been in existence for almost 40 years in the heart of Edinburgh and is a free-entry facility that enables local people – including young children – to learn more about farm life right on their doorstep.
Gail Vencker, Gorgie City Farm’s Volunteering and Inclusion Manager, said: “Huge thanks to Scotmid for our funding through the Community Grant programme. Our inclusive approach is very important to us at Gorgie City Farm, and being able to offer our volunteers a piece of branded uniform, to feel very much part of the team has been fantastic.”
The farm is situated not far from our Gorgie Road store and also Murrayfield Stadium, where our East Region member meetings are held.
Last year, Scotmid were proud to award almost 1200 Community Grants – funding up to £500 – to various good cause groups across Scotland; improving people’s everyday lives.
